By Faith: Arise and Build

Churchwide Banquet, December 8, 1985

and involves more people than any other event other than Sunday morning worship.

"I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord."

Jesus said "Let the little children come unto me."

We who are adults can share the joy of seeing our children grow in faith and knowledge of the Word of God.

It is our responsibility to see that our children have the facilities for growth.

1967 marks the beginning of the Kindergarten under the direction of Mrs. Inez Russell who was called to Mableton First Baptist during that year.

It has taught over 4500 children during its 18 years of operation,

bringing our church into contact with over 10,000 immediate family members

and perhaps more than twice that many in the extended families.

It has allowed our Christian community to touch the lives of a number of international children who have been raised in many faiths -

an opportunity for witness hard to achieve in other programs of our church.

Touching the families of all these precious childen with the gospel of Christ has been our joy and a major ministry of our church.

In 1974 the Mableton First Baptist Kindergarten was recognized by Georgia State University as one of the outstanding kindergartens in the area

and was used by the University for the training of student teachers.

You might be surprised at the variety of skills which are taught in kindergarten.

A large number of the professions of faith in most Southern Baptist churches come in the Vacation Bible School

Our church is no exception.

Dedicated teaching of God's Word

and care for young lives has characterized those who have taught in our Vacation Bible Schools over the years.

That love and dedication has borne much fruit and deserves our honor and heartfelt thanks.

Focusing on the spiritual needs of the children of our community, our annual day-camp brings in children for Bible study and an activity-oriented exposure to Christian values.
