GBH 100th Anniversary

October 11, 2002

Current student nurses model the uniforms of the first class of student nurses in 1902.

A buffet dinner for alumni was held in a large tent on the Mercer campus. Above left, our table celebrates. Bobbie Jackson,Trisha Jones, Iris Googe Shadrick ,Frankie Stuart, Kay Burnham Smith. Above right, another table for the 1962 class with Ann Newton, Beverly Williams, Gloria Gaskins Ferrell.

Welcome time!

The whole area was abuzz with welcoming each other - hugs and laughter all around. Brenda extends the official welcome to the group and Ann Byrd Free leads the blessing for the fine buffet dinner.

Friends from far and near. Frankie had flown in from Florence, Oregon and we enjoyed having her at our home. Ann Newton drove down from Adairsville, having recently moved there from the Norfork area.

Brenda led the recognition of the classes in 9 year increments plus special recognitions for the multiples of 10. Finally they recognized individually the members of the 1952 class upon their 50th anniversary of graduation.

There were door prizes for the one who had come the greatest distance, the oldest graduate, the one with the most family members who were nurses. There was a time for a sharing of tales aobut nursing school, and everybody seemed to have a good time.
