Musical Service, 2nd Anniversary Celebration of Hispanic Congregation

September 23, 2006

As a 2nd Anniversary Celebration of the beginning of the Hispanic congregation, we had a joint musical service and fellowship for our English and Spanish congregations featuring a musical group from Peru. There were some members from Peru in our active Spanish congregation, and I believe some of them knew this group and invited them to Mableton First Baptist.

Some of the musical numbers featured just the sets of pipes that we sometimes call "shepherd's pipes" which are apparently common in Peru.

They also had some small string instruments similar to a mandolin and percussion instruments.

Ana Vela and Grace Lopez bring the introduction and welcome to the service. Both of them speak both languages, so they could greet both groups.

On the right were the two pipers and the player of the small stringed instrument.

On the left was the guitar and two percussionists. Together they had a full sound and the praise service was enjoyed by all.

Pastor Javier Lopez of the Hispanic congregation spoke to the joint group in Spanish with Ana Vela translating to English.

Then Pastor Tim Childers of the English congregation spoke to the group with Javier translating to Spanish.

Afterward we had a fellowship time with food prepared by the Hispanic congregation.
