The Scarlet Mormon

Papilio rumanzovia (male) from Southeast Asia

The white flecks on the wings were not readily visible in daylight viewing. They must have been reflective particles that flashed back from the flash illumination.

The unusual eye is partly a pattern on the insect.

Scarlet Mormon

Great Mormon

Papilio memnon from Southeast Asia
An illustration of the female great mormon has some red trim. This butterfly has no red showing, but it is very similar. It reminded me of a pinstriped tuxedo.
