He is a historian and is chief historian of the Circa History Guild in Roswell. Ray had done a program for him on World War II history.

Ray is a WWII veteran and served on the USS Cowpens, an aircraft carrier dubbed "The Mighty Moo", in the South Pacific campaign. The town of Cowpens, S.C. has an annual festival on Father's Day called the Mighty Moo Cowpens Festival. Ray has taken part in that festival.
