Charlotte Apologetics Conference

October 10-12, 2013

The registration area was mobbed at just after 8am as over 2200 persons arrived at for the 2013 National Apologetics Conference.

The first event that Rod attended was a dialogue between Dr. Hugh Ross of Reasons to Believe and Dr. Jason Lisle of the Institute for Creation Research. Dr. Frank Turek was the moderator. Their title was "Resolved: Astronomy Proves the Universe is Billions of Years Old" with Ross affirming the great age and Lisle denying it. Rod was definitely on Ross's side as a physicist and president of Atlanta Reasons to Believe. He had also done presentations on "God's Clocks in Nature" and "Radiometric Dating: Is it Reliable?" which made some of the same points that Ross made. Rod mostly followed the Science and Faith track of the conference.

Brenda followed the Christianity and Culture track and her first session was with Josh McDowell on the subject "The Perfect Storm: Four Cultural Trends That Challenge Every Truth We Know"

We went to Charlotte for the SES Apologetics Conference, but before it we had two great blessings. We visited the Billy Graham Library and we got to have dinner with Mary and John Keefe.

We were delighted that Mary looked so well. We had prayed and worried about her all year since she had been diagnosed with a form of leukemia a year ago and had gone through a stem cell transplant and major chemotherapy. It was a great blessing to spend time with her and John.
