Celebrating Elyse's Birthday

December 26, 2018

We enjoyed spending the day at Jeff and Darla's and wanted to celebrate Elyse's 14th birthday today, even though there will be another family celebration later. Elyse got to do some shopping, and then the family went to the Times Grill in Slidell which occupies the old railway depot there.

We settled in to our table at the Times restaurant with Elyse as the guest of honor.

We love going out to eat with Jeff's family and hope it was as much fun for them.

The Times Grill was a large open, high-ceiling area, as you would expect for an old railway station. It was ringed by wall televisions playing various kinds of sports. It was a friendly and relaxed environment.

When we arrived home after dinner, we gathered to watch the movie Incredibles-2 on the nice new TV. About halfway through it we paused to have pie and ice cream as part of the birthday celebration.

Everyone gathered around with interest as the pie and ice cream was brought out.

Elyse lights the four candles - hmm! how does four candles stand for fourteen?

With lots of encouragement, Elyse got the candles blown out and we enjoyed the very nice chocolate pie.

We enjoyed the remainder of the movie together and then it was time for us to say goodbye as we were heading back toward Atlanta tomorrow. We gathered for our prayer circle and hugged each other goodbye, looking forward to the next time we can be together. We felt very blessed by our visit with the family.
