Thanksgiving Visits

November 20-25, 2021

We had been looking forward to the Thanksgiving visit, so we were happy when Jeff and Darla and Elyse arrived Saturday about 5pm. We let them settle in, and got this picture of Brenda and Elyse in the kitchen about 7:30. We'll have to wait until late Wednesday for Ashleigh, Jordan and Luke to arrive.

Sunday, November 21

Sunday morning was clear and cold and we got a beautiful light show through the fall leaves to the east.

We enjoyed Sunday dinner together and were pleased that Mark could join us.

They got together with Marty in the evening and he brought up his "Solo Stove" and built a nice fire for them to sit around and visit over supper.

Monday, November 22

Mark was able to come out again on Monday, so we all got to have lunch together.

Tuesday, November 23

Tuesday morning was clear and cold so Jeff and Elyse bundled up for their morning run a close to 9am.s

Mark came out and demonstrated his amazing new drone. He flew it under beautiful control all around the neighborhood, and high enough that you could barely see it.

Our Japanese maple tree was a great place to take a photo of Darla and Elyse.

Elyse was interested in visiting the Atlanta Contemporary art center off Marietta St in Atlanta, which we had never seen, so we drove in to visit it.

In the evening we drove back into Midtown of Atlanta and had a very nice Indian dinner at the Tabla restaurant where Marty is manager.

Wednesday, November 24

Elyse is now very much engaged in the preparation of Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. She is working on one of our traditional Thanksgiving salad dishes.

We are now anticipating the arrival of Ashleigh, Jordan and Luke. Ashleigh had her last medical school exam before Thanksgiving on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30! Seemed unreasonable, but their term had been hindered by Covid, and they had lost two weeks to Hurricane Ida which took out the power to New Orleans for two weeks. They arrived safely after midnight.

Thanksgiving, November 25

After arriving in the wee hours this morning, Ashleigh, Jordan and Luke seems quite lively, joining Elyse at the island.

Brenda enjoys the time with the girls at breakfast time.

Jordan and Luke do special napkin folds, and Jordan does a snack tray.

This is a busy kitchen in preparation for the Thanksgiving meal.

A busy time, but a time of joy and fellowship.

Thanksgiving morning was busy for all the ladies, preparing the turkey, the side, the three traditional salads. And Jordan and Luke did the fancy napkin folds.

Finally it was time for Thanksgiving Dinner. On the right are Elyse, Jordan, Ashleigh and Mark.

On the left were Brenda, Jeff, Darla and Luke.

After dinner there was time for clowning around on the couch.

Then a bit of clowning around at our traditional fireplace photo spot.

Our traditional Thanksgiving fireplace family photo. Back row Luke, Jordan, Ashleigh, Elyse. Front: Darla, Jeff, Rod, Brenda, Mark.

It was a nice afternoon for photography outside, and we took advantage of the color of our Japanese maple tree for this foursome Ashleigh, Jordan, Elyse and Luke.
