"Trunk or Treat" at Mableton First Baptist

October 30, 2021

With the enthusiastic direction of Mike Davis, the church staged this year's version of "Trunk or Treat" with the hope that we could hand out enough candy to make the kids of the Mableton area remember us and come to visit our church. Cars with their decorated trunks were distributed around both of our upper parking lots, and a few extending into the lower parking lot. The number of visitors was very large, extimated at five hundred. So much candy was taken that they made two trips to nearby stores for more.

Our first visit was to Mike and Cheryl Anthony's trunk. We knew it would be creative.

We had to get a little closer to see that their design was "Granny's Front Porch"!

Betsy Graham and daughter had a vampire and witch theme complete with broom.

While Brett Graham next door decorated his work truck with old paint and things he might have been working with that day. Pretty scary!

Looks like Greg and Melissa Little have been generous with their candy. Greg is standing there with an apparently empty box. Rhett helped to entertain the crowd by riding his unicycle around the loop with a sign.

Looks like and Elfin theme in the pumpking patch for Philip and Katie Vineyard.

Bob and Gail Wade appear to be shepherding the miniatures. They didn't have to shepherd any more candy! The whole place had been cleared in a major candy raid.

With Matthew Smith of course it had to be a Starwars theme! Sarah had wandered off so we didn't get her in costume.

Karla and Chris Ayers have an astronomy theme, but they are out of candy too!

Pumpkins with a Halloween flavor for Mary Brumbelow.

An M&M theme for Eddie and Jennifer Good. We reminisced about the fantastic M&M store at Times Square in New York City during our choir trip there in 2017.

We continued our trip around the second parking lot to survey the remaining "Trunks".

Wanda Willey had an intensely pumpkin theme, with the Peanuts characters and even including herself!

The last Trunk we visited was that of Pastor Doug and Marcha. It was spectacularly lit, and won first place. But certainly the favorite decoration there for them was that new first grandchild.

We had had the privilege of seeing that precious grandchild and parents in the parking lot on the way in!

The weather had cleared up just in time and we had a great "Trunk or Treat" celebration. We were told that we gave out as much popcorn as we had the previous night at the Fall Festival, and enough candy to sweeten up the entire area.
