Trip to Pearl River
March 18-22, 2021
After sleeping in the basement because of the violent storms with tornadoes ripping across Alabama toward Atlanta, we awoke to a much more favorable weather projection and launched on our trip to Louisiana to visit with the family there. This day's launch was to get us there in time for Elyse's participation in the drama presented at Pearl River High School.
Elyse in Drama at Pearl River High School
Their drama was a variation on "The Odd Couple" by Neil Simon, so the emphasis was on friendships of persons who have been divorced from their spouses or are about to be divorced and find some solace in their friends.
| Elyse's drama started with a girl's game night where they were expressing concern about her in her role as Florence Unger because of a pending divorce. About this time she shows up, in sadness. |
Elyse's entrance was one of tears and great distress.
| Her friend Olive Madison, played by J'myah Patterson, sought to console her and they talked about the details of the relationship. |
Olive and Florence carried on a dialogue about the situation.
| Elyse and J'myah carried on an extended dramatic dialogue about this personal crisis of "Florence" and her husband. |
The dialogue got more intense when Olive got Florence's husband on the telephone!
The cast takes a bow on the Pearl River High School stage.
Of course we were most interested in this young lady in center stage. We really enjoyed Elyse and J'myah's dialogue. The original "Odd Couple" was male and on left is Felix Unger and on right Oscar Madison. But this program featured a female version with Florence Unger and Olive Madison as well.
