Rod and Brenda left for Toronto and then drove to Guelph, Ontario for Rod's meeting of the American Association of Physics Teachers. On the flight up, we flew through a lot of clouds and were in position for Rod to photograph the glory around the plane's shadow. At left, the cloud is distant, and the plane shadow is a tiny dot. At right, the cloud is closer so that the plane shadow is larger. To the eye, the rainbow-colored ring around the plane shadow is the same size for close and distant clouds if the droplets forming the cloud are the same size.
