Coping with Covid

We start the new year with large increases in Covid infection and deaths, with political turmoil and much to discourage us. Brenda and Rod are mostly staying at home and had to forego our trip to Pearl River in light of the risk. We focused upon Christmas memories from 20 years of trips to be with the family there for Christmas.

Ashleigh had tested positive for Covid in December, about the time for her term exams, so we were very sympathetic. Her main symptoms were loss of taste and smell and fatigue, so we were grateful that it was not more drastic. With her youth and strength and determination she was able to successfully complete her first term in LSU Medical School, so we are very proud of her. But with the first weeks of 2021, Jeff called to tell us that he and Darla, Debbie and Diane had tested positive. A week later, Elyse tested positive. We were very concerned about Judy getting it, and she reported some loss of taste, but tested negative.

Having Sunday School on Zoom

January 10, 2021

After an active Covid exposure at the church the first week of January, we moved to "online only" for Jan 6, 10, and 13 programming. So we had our January 10 Sunday School on Zoom only and invited members of other classes to join us since we were the only ones zooming the Sunday School.

We were pleased to have Jim and Linda Stearns and Warren Courts join us on Zoom from other classes, along with Gail and Bob Wade, Melissa Little, Chris and Karla Ayers, Betsy Weaver and Brenda Speight from our Class. We had a time of general visiting and prayer requests at the beginning and enjoyed the fellowship with this group.

We were able to share the screen and have an active discussion of the lesson material, each participant from their own home.

On January 18 we were able to get the first of the Covid vaccine shots (Moderna version) at Mableton Pharmacy with an appointment for the second. We will continue with the same precautions, but it did give us a bit of relaxation.
