Halite is the mineral form of common table salt, NaCl. The single crystal above is about 8 cm long. The sample at right is about 8 cm wide and is from Eisleben, Thuringen, Germany. It is described as halite with calcite.

This large collection of halite crystals is from Death Valley, California. It is about 50 cm wide.

This sample of halite is from Wieliczka, Poland. The entire sample is about 10 cm wide.
