Gahnite

ZnAl2O4

These samples of gahnite are displayed in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Gahnite is a oxide mineral of zinc and aluminum with the composition ZnAl2O4. The sample at left is about 10 cm across and is from Franklin, New Jersey. It is described as gahnite with rhodonite.

This is gahnite with rhodonite. It is from the same location and is about 12 cm wide.
