Laurionite

PbCl(OH)

This sample of laurionite is displayed in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Laurionite is a compound of lead and chlorine with the composition PbCl(OH). The sample at left is about 8 cm across and is from Laurion, Attike, Greece. Laurionite is typically colorless according to Mindat, so it appears that the small clear crystals are the laurionite in this sample.
