Hemimorphite

Zn4Si2O7(OH)2.H2O

This sample of hemimorphite is displayed in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Hemimorphite is a silicate mineral of zinc with the composition Zn4Si2O7(OH)2.H2O. The sample at left is about 20 cm across and is from Sterling Hill Mine, Ogdenburg, New Jersey.

This hemimorphite sample is from Leadville, Colorado and is about 15 cm wide.

This hemimorphite sample is from Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico. It is about 10 cm wide.

This sample is described as hemimorphite after calcite with greenockite. It is about 27x30 cm and is from Joplin, Missouri.
