Cinnabar

These samples of cinnabar are displayed in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Cinnabar is a sulfide mineral of mercury with the composition HgS. The sample at left is about 12 cm across and is from Castilla la Nue, Ciudad Real, Almaden, Spain.
