This course is devoted to the discussion of the ideas and concepts of physical science. Although particular attention will be given to those concepts considered to be appropriate and transferable to the teaching of science in early childhood, it is not the purpose of this course to teach methods of teaching - teaching methods are addressed specifically in courses offered by the College of Education.

Notes:

The grading of the course will be as follows:
25% each for Midterm and Final Exams
20% for weekly 20 min quizzes given on Wednesday at the beginning of class, covering the text questions for the chapters covered during that week. The lowest grade of these quizzes will be dropped, but there will be no makeup quizzes.
20% for the laboratory. The laboratories are to be completed and turned in at the end of the laboratory period. The lab grade is based on these experiments - there is no laboratory exam as such, although there may be laboratory-related questions on the in-class exams. The lowest one day's lab grade will be dropped, but there will be no make-up labs.
10% for in-class measurements and exercises.

*Mar 3 is the last day on which one may withdraw with a passing grade.
