Sculpture in Coral

This strange collection of hard and soft coral, sponges and tubeworm plumes made a neat sculpture. Seen more clearly in the closeup view below, the tubeworm plumes wave in the sea water at the top of the hard coral. Molasses Reef, Pennekamp Park off Key Largo,August 21, 1990

Tubeworm plumes atop a coral outcrop

Sticking out the top of the piece of hard coral are tubeworm plumes. They were hard to photograph because at about 4 feet distance, they would just disappear as the tubeworms quickly pulled in their plumes at my approach. This particular spot had a wide variety of sea life. There are different kinds of sponges and hard and soft corals here. August 21, 1990
