We gathered for a service of celebration of Dorothy's life on September 19. She went to be with the Lord on September 16 at the age of 88.

The celebration service was held at Jackson's chapel in Newport with a graveside service afterward at Gracelawn Cemetary in Tuckerman.

The service was conducted by Dr. Greg Dills, pastor of First Baptist Church, Newport. Dorothy and the Lassiter family are members of that church. Rodney and Philippe were members of First Baptist in their growing up years in Newport. A tribute Letter to Mom was presented by daughter Shirley. Two duets recorded by grandson Brent Lassiter and daughter Suzanne Lassiter were a part of the service. That was the first time we had heard Brent and Suzanne sing together and we really enjoyed that.

She was buried beside Jimmy Boggs and son Jim Boggs.
