Pouring the Front Porch at Radio Road

July 30, 2021

Jeff and Darla had worked hard to lay the block wall for the front porch of the Radio Road house. They had also built the wooden framework for the pouring of the slab.

Then there was the forming and placement of the steel rods for reinforcement of the floor. There were steel rods down into the hollows of the blocks of the wall. Then there were the four rod structures which would give strength to the bases of the four vertical columns of steel to come later.

Finally the time had come to pour the floor and this crew had arrived with the concrete truck.

Viewed from the beginning end, the crew is approaching completion of the pour.

Underneath this smooth surface of concrete is a lot of hard work for Jeff and Darla.

Jeff got a lot of experience laying concrete block, which is really a physical workout. There were some old and very heavy block on the property which he made use of. Then he used new block which was not quite as heavy, as I understood it.

Then they had to design and build the forms which would establish the level of the floor and hold in the concrete up to the finish level for the floor.
