Working on the Walls at Radio Road

The finishing of the interior walls is progressing. This long middle interior wall has been framed, the plumbing roughed in, and the basic wiring done. The large stacks of sheetrock have been delivered and await the insulation of the walls.

Darla cuts a piece of wall insulation for the long middle wall. The end of the newly insulated wall is behind her.
A major wire-pulling job is underway to make changes in the three-phase electrical system and its connection to the big yellow generator. Heavy gauge wire extends downward from the new control panel and another set of wires is being pulled down from the ceiling through conduit using a rope and a come-along.

Large sets of three wires, I think Jeff said 000 gauge, are being run through part of the three-phase wiring system. These switch boxes are using this heavy gauge wire. A three-phase transformer sits at the bottom of this photo.

Marty went to Louisiana in early summer to visit Jeff and Darla. Before putting him to work, they at least gave him a taste of New Orleans with coffee and beignets at some variation of the Cafe du Monde.

Then Jeff gets Marty up on the lift to help with wall insulation. Looking into the big room, it appears that most of the framing is done.

This represents a major step forward in that the sheetrock has been done, and the new ceiling material installed in the kitchen area.

With the 12ft ceilings, the sheetrock was installed as 4x12 sheets installed sideways, starting at the top.

The existing ceiling was pegboard, and it is being covered with "revolution plywood" made from bamboo. Mark is also using some of this new material on some of the movie sets.

This is the kitchen area roughed in with sheetrock, the new ceiling material, the roughed in electrical outlets and plumbing points.

Moving on with finish work
