2022Jeff and Darla's first project of the year at Radio Road was the starting of the front porch roof structure, January 4. A major job of concreting the trenches in the floor was completed, January 9. We enjoyed having the children in Awana at MFBC starting on January 12. We had a tiny snow on January 29 while Wesley and Shirley and the whole Northeast were getting a lot. Awana at MFBC for February. Mark takes on the building of an observatory as he goes back to work on a movie set, February 12. Elyse marches in the Pearl River Parade on February 13. Mark came to lunch and we had roses at home to celebrate Valentine's day. Valentine's Day on February 14 prompts us to give thanks for the blessing of our family. We enjoyed the flowers of early spring, mostly jonquils, February 24. Construction continues at Radio Road with work on the front porch and the interior wall framing, February 24. Awana at MFBC for March. The next stage of the front porch framing at Radio Road on March 5. The continuation of the roof work at Radio Road, March 23. Spring awakening of flowers and trees April 9. Awana at MFBC for April. Birds of spring, April. Mableton First Baptist had a large family Easter celebration for the community on April 16. Jeff and family on Easter Sunday, April 17. An interactive history of the gatherings of the Georgia Tech Baptist Student Union alumni gatherings, April 23 Georgia Tech BSU alumni gathering in Hiawassee, April 22-24, 2022 The beginning of the roofing of the main Radio Road building, April 27. Mark works on the set of a fantasy movie in a wooded area on May 8. We were very pleased to see our street, Moody Lane, being paved, May 10-13. The annual Awana Celebration was held on May 18. Awana at MFBC for May and June. Elyse's trip to Europe, June 1-14. After a visit to London, they explored the Normandy beach area. From Normandy they went to Rouen, and then on to Paris. After Paris they traveled across Belgium to Germany, with Berlin being their final destination. The Vacation Bible School theme was "Spark Studios" , June 5-9. Group photos Ashleigh graduates from her Navy officer training course in Newport, Rhode Island on June 10. Rod and Brenda celebrate their 60th Anniversary on June 22! We had a visit from a redtailed hawk on July 4. Awana at MFBC for July. Construction at the Radio Road house continues with sheetrock and ceiling work. A reverie about the life right around us. We were very pleased to have a visit from Jeff and Darla from July 20-23. Awana at MFBC for August. Elyse's last first day of school, August 9 We made the trip to Pearl River on August 18 with a visit to Carol Sue Jones near Birmingham on the way. We promptly went to Radio Road to look at the progress there. On August 19 Rod went with Jeff to Poplarville to pick up a new box blade for the tractor and try it out. On August 20 we had a major birthday celebration for the younger generation, which was what prompted our trip. Our last day there was Sunday with the family. We attended Brenda's 63rd Anniversary of her South Cobb High School graduating class on September 17. On September 22 we headed for Arkansas to visit with the Arkansas family and to attend Rod's 65th Anniversary celebration of his graduation from Newport High School. Continuing Awana at Mableton First Baptist On October 11 Elyse was honored on "Senior Night" at Pearl River High School and the family got together for the celebration. On October 21 we attended the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing reunion at Mercer University. One of the features was an excellent history of the nursing program by Dare Domico. On October 29 Mableton First Baptist helped with the fall celebration at Mableton Elementary School. We provided ten "Trunk or Treat" vehicles for that celebration and also provided free popcorn and snowcones to the children and families that attended. Aunt Dorothy got to meet her new great-great-grandson Levi and five generations were together. Progress at the Radio Road house included placement of the kitchen cabinets. November 9 was the time for our Awana group picture as we continued with fall activities. Progress with the kitchen cabinets at Radio Road, November 18. We had so much looked forward to the family Thanksgiving visit. We enjoyed the Thanksgiving Around the Table at church and anticipated the arrivals of others for our Thanksgiving Day. We enjoyed our Thanksgiving Dinner and visitation through Friday with Ashleigh continuing with us until Saturday. Stories and Songs with the Awana boys and girls and the Youth, December 7. We appreciate construction updates as Jeff and Darla continue to work hard at the property. Severe December weather forced us to cancel our trip to Pearl River for Christmas day, but we headed south on December 26 for a family visit. We spent some time at the Radio Road house where Jeff and Darla were working hard. |
