Visit to Paris

June 6-7, 2022

After the two days of exploration in London, the tour of Normandy and the visit to the city of Rouen, the group proceeded to Paris.

One of their first views in Paris was the Notre Dame Cathedral, which was clearly still much under reconstruction after the disastrous fire of 15/16 April 2019. At lower left is Joe, their Irish tour guide for the entire trip, along with specialist guides at different locations.

Elyse with her history teacher as they walked the streets of Paris. We were grateful to her for making this experience possible for Elyse, so we were hoping that it would be a blessing to her. It was good to get her in this selfie, since she spent a lot of time taking photos for Elyse.

They got a good view of the Seine river as they crossed it on their bus. The Seine ran through Rouen as well as Paris, so they became familiar with it.

On a Paris bridge named the Pont Alexandre III there are a number of major statues. This one is called the Renommee des Arts (Fame of the Arts) statue and was created by French sculptor Emmanuel Fremiet. He also sculpted an even more famous gilded equestrian statue of Joan of Arc, also in Paris and inaugurated in 1874.

The next day brought more exploration and finds Elyse out on the street in Paris with the Eiffel Tower behind her.

It appears that they got very nice weather to walk around Paris. Elyse walks across one of the bridges crossing the Seine river.

They traveled to the high part of the city where many of the art sites are located. They get a wide view of Paris from there. This location is called the Square Nadar and is one of the highest points in Paris.

Back to the city center where Elyse gets a beautiful blue sky view of the Eiffel Tower.

This view of the Eiffel Tower shows its location close to the Seine river. Numerous tour boats and also freight barges keep the river busy.

After a full day of Paris exploration, Elyse gets to take a selfie with the Eiffel Tower. It had to be a memorable day!
