Spring Activities 2020

On April 23, we certainly had some April showers. We have enjoyed tracking things with our weather app on the phone, and this is a dramatic example when we were in the middle of a downpour.

May 1. With the human population of the world under Covid threat, still all of nature about us was celebrating and praising the Lord. All the plants were out luxuriously and this was a beautiful blue-sky day. We had further reason to praise because you can see the rear end of Mark's truck as he had come out to have lunch with us. We have really enjoyed his more frequent visits - his movie shut down a couple of weeks ago, and we are staying home. That has given us more time for conversation with Mark, which has been a blessing to us.

On May 31 I was using the sprinkler system to water the flowers during a dry spell. With the strong Sun to my back, I knew where to look for a rainbow in the spray, but the brilliance of this rainbow surprised me. It not only cycled through the entire ROYGBIV spectrum but also cycled back through green and violet with maybe a hint of a third green band. These extra bands are sometimes called supernumerary arcs, but I'm not sure whether they are due to light interference in the droplets or some other phenomenon.

When we returned from Pearl River on June 23, we found this hydrangea in bloom by the parking pad. It was the first blooming for it as well, so we have been pleased with our hydrangeas this spring.
