MFBC Members Meeting and Celebration of Becky's 25th Anniversary

April 23, 2023

After the morning worship service, we had a potluck dinner with probably the largest attendance since before Covid. There was a great spirit of fellowship. After the meal, Pastor Doug Thompson led us in our first quarter Members Meeting.

After the brief business session, Keith Weaver initiated the celebration of Becky Ridgway's 25th Anniversary as children's director. We all knew that she had served the church and the children quite a bit longer than that, but this was a good time to celebrate.

Matthew Smith makes a comment, and this shows the back of the room with the great crowd we had for the occasion. I counted over fifty people in the room at the time.

David Moore was the third speaker to pay tribute to Becky, following Phyllis McWilliams and Nan Laflash. David started off with the quip that we ought to make it a "roast", but then proceeded to pay high tribute to Becky. All three speakers made wonderful statements including testimony of Becky's effect on their lives.

The entire group responded enthusiastically to the statements of tribute, so it was a lively time.

Becky responds with thanks for the tributes and the gifts. We had tried to keep this event a secret from her, but don't know how successful that was. She was seated at a front table with Ricky and with Leigh and Lee Miller.

A beautiful bouquet of flowers and a basket of cards. The cards were one of the things we tried to keep secret from her so at least that would be a surprise.

Becky responds to the tributes and gifts with thanks, and all of us shared in appreciation for her dedicated service.

There was no question about the joy and genuineness of the group response to the tributes and to Becky for her service.
