MFBC Mission Team provides supper for Tech BCM

March 14, 2023

Jonatan Coronado is setting up outreach events for our Mableton First Baptist Mission Team including meals for area outreach settings. This evening, the team took supper to the Georgia Tech Baptist Campus Ministry at the BCM center on the Tech campus.

Since the Tech BCM center has a well-equipped kitchen, they decided to do the cooking there and arrived at about 2:30pm to start the process. Barbara Floyd prepares salads and the meatballs and noodles are on the stove.

Mary Brumbelow and Barbara prepare rolls while Brenda Speight tends the big oven.

The three of them prepare the nice rolls for the oven.

Mary and Barbara transfer the tasty meatballs to the big trays on the steam table. The heated water to keep everything hot worked well, even though they told us that the unit had not been used in two years!

Barbara finishes the filling of two large pans with meatballs and we provided a pot of vegan sauce, plus heated rolls in two of the pans on the steam table.

Mary, Barbara and Brenda have done a terrific job of getting everything together in the serving area: meatballs, noodles, bread, salad, drinks and dessert.

Mary, Barbara and Brenda have the food hot on the steam table and ready to serve.

Jonatan joins the ladies and the team of four servers is ready for the students who are gathering at the door at about 5:30.

Mary is handling the end of the bar with the bread, drinks and desserts. They had brought and abundance of cookies for dessert.

After the blessing, the line starts. The Tech BCM students were very enthusiastic and friendly, so we had a good time with them.

We were pleased to see the large group of students moving through the line for food.

Brenda and Rod sat at a table with six Tech guys and had a very interesting conversation. They asked how we met and were interested in the fact that we met in BCM related activities (then BSU) over 60 years ago.

The students kept coming until we had filled most of the tables in the dining area. One estimate was about sixty fed, including those who came up to 30 minutes after we started serving.

The students kept coming and were enthusiastic about the meal. Barbara, Mary, and Brenda had done a great job of preparation, layout and serving, and it was certainly appreciated.

It was good to see the Baptist Campus Ministry center so busy with so many students involved. The supper was followed by a personal evangelism presentation, and then as we were packing up we saw a music rehearsal, and then the beginning of a worship gathering at different parts of the building.
