Jeff and Darla, Jordan and Luke visit Elyse and make a trip to Bumpass Hell.
Since Elyse is spending the summer in California working for Chevron, Jeff and Darla and Jordan and Luke decided to visit her.

I don't know the details, but they wound up together in San Francisco at the Golden Gate on July 18. |  |
 | So Luke, Jeff, Jordan and Darla were together at the Golden Gate and had to make plans for their visit with Elyse, who was employed a short distance up the eastern coast of the San Francisco Bay. They had thought about a trip to Yosemite, but found that it was so popular that they couldn't arrange admission into the Yosemite area. Their next choice was a trip to Bumpass Hell, a location we had enjoyed on our 1982 adventure. It is a part of Lassen Volcanic Park. |
They managed to get together with Elyse by the next morning and apparently stopped for breakfast on the morning of July 19. |  |
 | Bumpass Hell is a location in Lassen Volcanic Park. Getting to it involved a greater adventure than they expected. The normal trail to it was closed because of remaining snow cover, so they had to drive past it to another trail that led over a peak to the Bumpass Hell location and they hiked that trail. The image below shows the area of the Bumpass Hot Springs which are devoid of snow. But it shows the snow-overed areas around it. |

Elyse, Jordan, Luke and Jeff have reached the area of the Bumpass Hot Springs. There are walkways over part of the hot springs area to protect those walking through the area. Note that Jeff is barefooted.

2025
