2025We started the new year with a January snow and very cold weather called Winter Storm Cora. There was talk of a "polar vortex". . We started our MFBC Winter Awana sessions on January 8. A major freeze and snow event swept across the southeast on January 20. Rod and Brenda were just north of the snow and got extreme cold but only brief snow flurries. Mark got an inch or so in Decatur. Jeff and Darla, Jordan and Luke got 5-6 inches of snow in Pearl River and New Orleans. Elyse got snow and class cancelations in Baton Rouge. We enjoyed Jeff and Darla's sharing of the Pearl River snow. Ashleigh gets to see snow in February with a trip to Sequoia. MFBC Spring Awana sessions from March 5. We again did a Family Easter Celebration for the community on April 19. It was held in the MFBC Fellowship Hall. Ashleigh visits from California on Mother's Day Weekend We had our annual Awana Celebration on May 14 with the Awana Store afterward with prizes for achievement in Bible Study. After finishing her term at LSU Baton Rouge, Elyse headed for California for summer work for Chevron consistent with her major of Environmental Engineering. Our little side garden became a hydrangea haven as several plants bloomed in May. MFBC's Vacation Bible School was held on June 8-13 with the theme "Magnify". Jeff and Darla and Jordan and Luke went to California and visited Elyse. They made a trip to Bumpass Hell. July 18-19. The 66th Anniversary Reunion of the South Cobb High School class of 1959 was held on September 13. |
