Winter Awana at MFBC

January 8, 2025

For our first Awana session of 2025 we had a large group and Becky met with all of us to start an emphasis on Bible reading and prayer. She used a puppet video on new year's resolutions to encourage developing those two resolutions.

We had one T&T student and one Sparks student who had earned awards before the Christmas break, so we celebrated those on this opening night in 2025.

For the beginning recreation time, the Awanas were given a free choice of anything in the game closet. Some chose games, some chose building.

We welcomed two first-time attenders to this session of Awana and they seemed to enjoy the starting activity.

It was a relaxed "free choice" time to start this Awana session.

A favorite group activity was the cup-stacking race game.

We started the Awana meeting with pledges to American and Awana flags and the pledge to the Bible.

We celebrate birthdays in Awana by singing "Happy Birthday". This time one of the birthdays was one of our first-time attenders!

For our large group lesson we started a study of the attributes of God. We did it in the Yellow room which has the white board for writing and saving.

Mrs Becky started a series with us about words and concepts that describe what God is like.

We were very proud of all the awards we had to give out in this session. The Awanas had worked very hard in learning Bible verses and being able to say them. We recognized five T&T Awanas and 2 Sparks Awanas for their good work.

In our large group, Mrs Becky continued to lead us in learning about the words that tell us about what God is like.

She led us in thinking about words like "infinite" and the nature of God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

Our opening recreation this evening was a choice of building sets.

A different Awana is chosen each week to lead the pledges to the American and Awana flags and the pledge to the Bible. Then Johnny Huffman asks questions from the biography sheet they have made to help the group get to know them better.

We were again proud of the work that the Awanas had done in learning the Bible and reciting verses. We gave out four awards to Sparks Awanas and three to T&T Awanas.

We again gathered in the yellow room for Mrs Becky to continue our study of the attributes of God. We had talked about God having no limits and being greater than we can understand and proceeded to talk about God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

We talked about the kind of words we can use to describe God's nature and greatness.

After talking about God's greatness and Mrs Becky introduced the phrase "Triune God", Tri meaning 3, and discussed God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit
