Arkansas Visit

Winter, 1960

A brilliant sunrise greets Rod as he leaves at near dawn for his return trip to Georgia Tech.

Posing by the '56 Mercury which Aunt Pearl had helped him get, Rod gets ready for the long trek back to Georgia. Shown are the huge oak tree and the "meathouse" which I grew up with on this hill. Also shown is Mother's '53 Chevrolet which I had nearly totalled.

Dad out in the early morning to see me off, surrounded by the chickens. In retrospect, these scenes speak with poignant sadness. Not only did the house burn in October of that year, Dad and Mother decided to call it quits after 39 years of a troubled marriage and divorced later in the year.
