Trip to Florida for Apollo 16 Launch

We headed south on April 15 and visited with Sue and Ike Dupree and family in Valdosta before heading on down to Cape Kennedy for the April 16 launch.

A huge crowd of campers and cars were gathered along the road across Indian River from the launch pad, Titusville, Florida.

We watched and listened to the igniting of the big rocket engines and watched the fire spread out from the launch area. Slowly the rocket lifted. It was exciting to see the big Saturn V rocket with its bright tail plume against the blue sky.

Shortly after we returned from the Apollo launch, we caught everyone in their Sunday clothes and took these family pictures.
