Cheval Island and the Aialik Cape

August 28, 1992

We passed by small, rocky Cheval Island and saw a harbor seal sunning on one of the rocks. The bits of log and tree debris gave a picture of violent storms lashing the island.

This is a look back at the rocks where there were sea lions resting and the rocky shoreline environment.

We got good views of some large sea lions on the rocks near the Aialik Cape.

These rugged, wave-washed rocks would seem to be good protection from any land predators.

We swung around the rocky end of Aialik Peninsula to an outcrop called 3-Hole Rock where we found these puffins beneath a rock ledge. We could get quite close to them.
