From Sacramento to Merced

August 4, 2004

Back home in Arkansas, vegetables grown for commercial market were called "truck crops". In California, this is literal, as shown by this tandem truck load of tomatoes on I-5 south of Stockton.

Jeff got the girls to reciting all the things you could make out of tomatoes ... catsup, barbeque sauce, pizza sauce, ..."

Further south we came to the beautiful golden grassy hills. The California Aqueduct ran alongside for irrigation of the crops.
