Sunday with the Family

August 21, 2022

Sunday was the last day of this visit for us. We joined the family at Northshore Church for the morning worship service and filled most of a row. Brenda and Rod, Jordan, Elyse with Lilly and two other friends, and Darla.

After church we went to Cheddars at Fremaux Center with Jeff, Darla and Jordan, with Elyse joining us after dropping off her three friends.

Later in the afternoon Darla and Jordan went to the Radio Road house to do more painting in the kitchen area.

We went over to visit and found Darla up on the lift painting with a roller to put on a Kilz2 base coat on the sheetrock kitchen wall. The door is the entrance to the pantry for the kitchen. Jordan is painting the lower part of the wall with a brush.

This is a wide look at the large kitchen area. The roughed-in furnace at the right is at the back of the kitchen area.

The bedroom areas have the basic sheetrock work done. Below is part of Jordan's bedroom, I think, with a bathroom door and closet door showing.

When we found the big door and double door frame at right in the large room, I had gotten the impression that it was for this side door location.

But then I saw the pictures below of double doors. That door set looks out from from Jeff and Darla's bedroom suite across the location where the old trailer sat. Below right is the outside appearance of the door on September 8.

This caused me some confusion until we got the picture on September 14 of the installation of the set of double doors for this side location. The appearance of both sets of double doors is shown below.

Later in the afternoon we went with Jeff, Darla and Jordan down to the Fremaux Center to have tea at the Ding Tea Shop where Elyse is working. So we got served with tea by Elyse on the job.

Returning to Jeff and Darla's house, we got to spend a little time with Ashleigh at suppertime. With these three busy granddaughters, we were blessed to spend some time with each of them and felt very blessed with the visits of the weekend. We headed back toward Atlanta early on Monday morning.

On Friday, August 26, Darla sent us the above views of the finished undercoat on the kitchen area. We enjoy seeing the steps of development of this unique house!

Jeff and Darla traveled to Gulfport on Labor Day to pick up tile for the kitchen floor and some bathroom spaces. They sent this picture of the beginning of the tile work in the kitchen area on September 8.

The laying of the tile is a major milestone because after it is laid they can begin putting the cabinets in their designed locations and begin connection of the kitchen appliances.

Darla with the progressing tile floor in the kitchen area and extending into the pantry. September 10.

Jeff and Darla were at the house working on the ceiling. You can see the revolution ply sheets progressing all the way to the end of the big room, lacking one sheet. Exciting progress!

On September 14 we got this picture which showed us both sets of double doors.
