Continuing Stair Construction at Bent Tree

December 14, 1979

The new basement stair had been constructed, and now the agenda was to make a stair rail for the top side on the main floor. We had cut out pickets for that stair rail, and Len is drilling holes in one of them.

Rod fastens on one of the pickets for the railing on the edge of the stairwell.

Trying out the structure with a top rail as we proceed with the construction.

Len smooths out a piece of the railing structure with a sanding drum on the radial arm saw.

We drilled holes in the top rail at accurate spacing, and then made up a jig to precisely locate the vertical pickets to get a regular spacing.

The jig worked great to give us evenly spaced pickets.
