Backpacks

After our Awana Celebration on May 13, we reached the end of the school year. We had one Awana meeting on May 27 before reaching Vacation Bible School time. After VBS we came back together for summer Awana. On July 22, the Awanas helped to unpack the backpacks for giving to the schools and helped place them on the steps of the sanctuary in preparation for the congregation to help with packing the backpacks on Sunday, July 26.

At the end of the worship service the members were asked to pick up one or more new empty pack from the front steps and carry them to the foyer to be filled by volunteers there. Elders and deacons led the way as we created a long line of backpacks.

They carried the empty bags to a long row of tables in the foyer where the youth,youth leaders, and other volunteers filled the packs with a selection of school supplies.

Then the members looped around and picked up more empty bags.

I addition to the variety of schoo supplies, an invitational handout to the church is included

This station provides crayons to each backpack. The series of bins provides a variety of supplies.

The congregation was very cooperative and they made several loops to the line to fill the backpacks

Some could manage three or more backpacks.

With several loops the members brought about 250 backpacks to be filled.
