Trip to Callaway Gardens

May 9-10, 2002

We drove down to Callaway Gardens about noon and had lunch at the Old Country Store. We enjoyed the leisurely meal overlooking what looked like an unspoiled wilderness, with little sign of human activity. We soon learned that this expanse was the Callaway Gardens itself - an excellent job of keeping it looking natural from a distance.

The Butterfly House was a treat and a challenge.

The raptor show featured owls, a hawk and a bald eagle.

One of the many delights of the horticulture house was the selection of orchids.

A pair of geese with five goslings was cruising along a canal associaed with one of the small lakes on the property.
