Jordan's Summer Visit
On May 29, we drove back from Pearl River after our major crawfish boil at the Moyle's, and Jordan drove the 2006 Sienna to accompany us and spend a portion of the summer with us. Brenda planned to keep her busy helping her clean out the attic, and Rod had ideas about help with HyperPhysics and with doing some physics demonstrations.
We kept her pretty busy until Sunday when she joined with Janet and Al Vineyard's young adult Sunday School class, sang in the choir, and attended the Spanish service at Iglesia de Mableton with us. Rod enjoyed practicing Spanish with her.
On Wednesday, June 5, Rod and Jordan took off for a walk at Sweetwater Park. The water was lower than on our March trip, but not as low as on our November 2016 visit.
| The area is named "Factory Shoals", and this shoal is close to the old Civil War era factory which we have visited often. |
The water was too high for rock hopping at this point. I followed Jordan along the edge of Sweetwater near the millrace and she found an interesting rock to climb out on.
| There was some beautiful turbulent water, and the rock ridge she was on looked promising for getting some photos of the whirlpools and rapids, so I was headed over in her direction. |
But at that time our further exploration came to a halt - not being careful enough with some slick, slanted rocks on the wet shore, my feet just slipped out from under me suddenly and I landed on my back in a six-inch deep, muddy pool. It must have been fairly dramatic - I just remember my back submerging in that cold mudhole. I collected a thick layer of mud up my entire back. I have to thank the Lord that I was not seriously injured - just a bruise and slash on my right wrist. I just had to walk the mile back to the pickup and try to protect my seat from all that mud as we drove home.
