Izora Johnson

Izora Johnson was born in 1900 according to the family's understanding, so she would be 13 years old in this photo which is labeled 1913. The recollection is that she was married to James Wesley Dawson at about this age. The family remembers her mother as Granny Peddicord with the name of her second husband, but her first husband was Frank Johnson. Frank Johnson was the father of Izora, Jenny, Ruth, Dora, and Cecil Johnson. Since Granny Peddicord was a full-blooded American Indian, Izora is half Indian and that is not hard to see.

We wonder if this might have been her wedding day. Carol Sue thinks a somewhat later picture is the wedding day. If Carol's labeling of that other picture is correct, Izora may be full-blood Cherokee.
