Susie Owsley's diary: Edgar went to Mobile, Alabama on May 15 to work in the shipyards for 71 cents an hour. On November 1 he joined the Army Air Corps as a mechanic and went to Waco, Texas. Carl Nave started work in Railroad yard in Newport, Arkansas.

Feb 1: Gertrude Owsley and Jimmie Bennet went to Louisville and got married. In September, Jimmie joined the Army.
