Brenda Receives Edna Earle Teal Award

Brenda received the Edna Earle Teal Award at the graduation ceremony of the Georgia Baptist School of Nursing.

Rod and Mark didn't get to be present because they were off scuba diving in the Caymans, Mark's graduation trip.

Later in the summer, Brenda's award was featured on the front page of the Alumnae Alert publication. Brenda thought very highly of Lib Perry, with whom she had the opportunity to work on a number of projects over the years at Georgia Baptist Hospital. Brenda and Lib were together in 1992 and 1995 at Alumnae functions.

The Teal award was also featured in an article in The Christian Index, The Baptist newspaper for Georgia. It shows Shirley Rawlins presenting the award to Brenda. We also regard very highly Shirley Rawlins, with whom Brenda worked in various settings over the next 20+ years. Shirley played a big part in the 100th Anniversary Celebration for Georgia Baptist School of Nursing in 2002. Brenda later served with Shirley on the Alumni Board for several years, one of them being 2003 when they are pictured together.

There was also an article in the Boulevard Beacon, the newsletter of Georgia Baptist Medical Center where Brenda worked.

Years later, the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing at Mercer Atlanta remembered the Edna Earle Teal award in a history display in the School of Nursing building.
