Rod got a new zoom lens and proceeded to demonstrate the old adage "To a kid with a new hammer, everything looks like a nail!". The new lens was capable of closeups.

Outside Pet We watched this writing spider for some weeks, feeding him crickets and other insects. This was a 35-300mm zoom lens and I wanted to put it through its paces.
