The Shy Rock Beauty


The Rock Beauty is usually seen peeking out from behind a coral head and will quickly duck back into cover. This one was encountered at about 100 ft depth on Conch Reef. It was just swimming along among the soft corals and sponges, there being no large corals at that depth. Note the Sergeant Major in the background. Conch Reef, Florida Keys, August 23, 1990
