Sue Varble Nave Cockrill

When we received the email from Susan Nix on February 17,2021 to make us aware of Janet Nave Nix's death on December 28, 2020, we followed up to find that her Mother, Sue Nave Cockrill had died on July 9, 2019. We had the privilege of seeing Sue at the celebration for our sister Dorothy's life in 2017.

We had had the opportunity to visit Sue and Bill Cockrill at their home in Tuckerman a few years back on a previous visit to Arkansas. We were pleased to see all the pictures of Leland's and Janet's families. I had worked with Bill at Kroger in Newport when I was in high school, my first job off the farm. He was a super nice guy to work around as he managed the produce department at Kroger.

One of the memories that makes us honor the life of Sue is her continued care for our Aunt Pearl Bunch. This is in 1967 when Aunt Pearl was 82. Sue continued to look out for her welfare the remainder of her life to about age 92, even though that meant travel to the nursing home where Aunt Pearl spent the last part of her life. But at 92, Sue was still going, and we loved the story above about her picking up 400 pounds of pecans when she was about 91 and donating the proceeds to Lottie Moon!
