Rod made a trip to Frankfurt, Germany in July (~12-17th) to give a lecture on his molecular structure research. He practiced to present a brief talk in German, having taken two years of German in graduate school. But they wouldn't let him -- they wanted to practice their English which was much better than Rod's German. He returned by train via Karlsruhe, Germany to Paris and stayed a day for exploration before flying back to London.
